Stuck Between Your Pain and the NHS

Are you a UK citizen suffering from pain? Despite its merits in other situations, the National Health Service has let you down this time. You may have been told to wait many months or even a year to see a qualified pain management specialist, or several months just to get what should be a basic exam.

Nearby help is not on the way. The difficulties facing the NHS run from Land’s End to John O’Groats, and wait times are unlikely to improve any time soon. Your daily pain isn’t improving, either, though the pain of dealing with the NHS is quickly catching up to that of the condition which caused you to seek care in the first place.

You have the option to travel to the Seattle area of the US to be treated straight away by a double-board-certified pain medicine subspecialist physician, Dr Jason Attaman. Our pain-management practice is located in Bellevue, WA. We get many enquiries from the UK, and occasionally get patients who fly in from the UK. (Patients also fly in from across the US, Canada and beyond.) Often they visit our practice when they have exhausted other options and simply need to get a handle on the pain. The one-time inconvenience of flying here is small compared to the pain, present and future.

We can diagnose your pain issues, obtain diagnostic imaging, and perform pain-reducing injections in a matter of a few days, rather than the months it would take you to receive that same healthcare (or less) in the UK. We have an imaging centre nearby which can perform diagnostic MRIs, CT scans, and x-rays for a reasonable cash price. (MRIs typically cost around 500 USD.) We can provide you with medical letters of necessity to help with passing through Customs.

We also perform consultations via telemedicine, for your convenience.

You can browse the “Conditions” and “Procedures” tab on this site to see how we might help. In the meantime, here are some of the most-common conditions we help treat:

Rotator cuff injuries
